I build everything with solid hardwoods and use mortise and tenon joinery for pieces that are made to withstand years of use while maintaining their integrity. I have made dressers for clients based on a visit to a Charles Rennie Mackintosh exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum as well as a custom Kaidan-dansu chest for a client with a specific storage space. They can have hand-carved drawer pulls or the “dancing peg joinery” found on Greene and Greene pieces.
